Terminology

ICE uses the following terms regarding products which are marked for eventual discontinuation:

  • EOL (End-of-Life - not recommended in new designs)
  • EOA (End-of-Availability - no new orders accepted)
  • EOS (End-of-Support)

Affected Products

Integrated Subsystems / Devices

ICEPOD 6 (6.0)

Regarding the first production model of the ICEPOD 6, retroactively known as the ICEPOD 6.0, the following has been announced: EOL as of June 2012, EOA as of September 2012 and EOS as of January 2015.

It has been superseded by the ICEPOD 6.5, now in production.

ICEPOD 6.5 and ICEPOD 6.5-HSR

Regarding the All-in-One Portable Systems ICEPOD 6.5 and ICEPOD_6.5-HSR, including the ICE-IDP-HSR data pack, the following has been announced: EOL as of 31 December 2017, EOA as of 31 December 2017 and EOS as of 1 January 2018.

They have been superseded by the ICE-POD8.

DSP Cards

ICE-PIC7

For all ICE-PIC7 series DSP cards (ICE-PIC7 and ICE-PIC7L), the following has been announced: EOL as of 31 December 2017, EOA as of 31 December 2018, and EOS as of 31 December 2019. This also includes its compatible processor modules, namely, ICE-V6M and ICE-S6M.

It has been superseded by the ICE-PIC8 series cards.

ICE-PIC6

For all ICE-PIC6 series DSP cards (ICE-PIC6, ICE-PIC6L, ICE-PIC6S), the following has been announced: EOL as of 30 September 2015, EOA as of 31 December 2015, and EOS as of 1 January 2018.

It has been superseded by the ICE-PIC7 series cards.

ICE-PIC5

For all ICE-PIC5 series DSP cards, the following has been announced: EOL as of June 2015, EOA as of October 2015, and EOS as of October 2017.

It has been superseded by the ICE-PIC6 series cards.

ICE-PIC4

ICE announces End-Of-Life (EOL) for all ICE-PIC4 series cards and associated I/O modules.

ICE Enterprises has discontinued sale (EOA) of the ICE-PIC4 series of cards and associated I/O modules as of 30 September 2010. Software support (EOS) for the product line will be provided through at least September of 2012.

This announcement includes ICE-PIC4T, ICE-PIC4X, ICE-A2D-r4, ICE-A2D-r6, ICE-A2D-r7, ICE-D2A-r2, and certain digital I/O modules. This announcement is the result of critical component obsolescence and a significant decrease in the number of available PCI-based platforms.

ICE appreciates the strong customer interest in the ICE-PIC4 product line over the past seven years. ICE will continue to sell and support its successors, the ICE-PIC5 product line, ICE-PIC6 product line, and all their associated I/O modules.

I/O Modules

ICE-A2D-r8

For the analog-to-digital module ICE-A2D-r8, the following has been announced: EOL as of June 2012, EOA as of November 2012, and EOS in January 2016.

It has been superseded by the ICE-A2D-M14.

ICE-A2D-r11

For the analog-to-digital module ICE-A2D-r11, the following has been announced: EOL as of August 2014, EOA as of 31 December 2014, and EOS on 31 December 2016.

It has been superseded by the ICE-A2D-M18.

ICE-A2D-r13

For the analog-to-digital module ICE-A2D-r13, the following has been announced: EOL as of June 2012, EOA as of November 2012, and EOS in January 2016.

It has been superseded by the ICE-A2D-M14.

ICE-A2D-M18

For the analog-to-digital module ICE-A2D-M18, the following has been announced: EOL as of 31 December 2017, EOA as of 31 December 2017, and EOS as of 1 January 2018.

It has been superseded by the ICE-A2D-M20.

ICE-D2A-r9

For the digital-to-analog module ICE-D2A-r9, the following has been announced: EOL as of August 2013 and EOA as of December 2013.

It has been superseded by the ICE-D2AWG-r2.

ICE-D2AWG-r2

For the digital-to-analog output module ICE-D2AWG-r2, the following has been announced: EOL as of 31 December 2017, EOA as of 28 February 2018, and EOS as of 31 December 2018.

It has been superseded by the ICE-D2AWG-M3.

ICE-D2E-r5

For the LVTTL-to-differential ECL converter module ICE-D2E-r5, the following has been announced: EOL as of 31 December 2017, EOA as of 31 December 2017, and EOS on 1 January 2018.

ICE-D2LV-r5

For the LVTTL-to-LVDS converter module ICE-D2LV-r5, the following has been announced: EOL as of 31 December 2017, EOA as of 31 December 2017, and EOS as of 1 January 2018.

ICE-DR2D-r5

For the differential receiver input module ICE-DR2D-r5, the following has been announced: EOL as of 31 December 2017, EOA as of 31 December 2017, and EOS as of 1 January 2018.

ICE-E2D-r5

For the differential ECL to digital converter module ICE-E2D-r5, the following has been announced: EOL as of February 2014 due to critical component obsolescence; EOA as of May 2014 and EOS as of January 2016.

ICE-LB2D-r2

For the communication module ICE-LB2D-r2, the following has been announced: EOL as of 18 September 2015, EOA as of 31 December 2015, and EOS on 1 January 2018.

It has been superseded by the ICE-LB2D-M3.

ICE-SONET-r4 and ICE-SONET-r5

For both the ICE-SONET-r4 and ICE-SONET-r5 communication modules, the following has been announced: EOL as of September 2012, EOA as of December 2012, EOS in September 2014.

They have been superseded by the ICE-SONET-r6.

ICE-SONET-r6 and ICE-UDP-10G-r2

For the communication modules ICE-SONET-r6 and ICE-UDP-10G-r2, the following has been announced: EOL as of 8 September 2015, EOA as of 31 December 2015, and EOS on 1 January 2018. These modules have been superseded by the ICE-SONET-R7 and ICE-UDP-10G-R3, respectively.

ICE-UDP-r5

End-of-Life (EOL) has been announced for the ICE-UDP-r5 I/O module. As of 30 December 2011, the ICE-UDP-r5 has no longer been available (EOA) because the critical parts are obsolete. Software maintenance and RMA support (EOS) will be available through at least 30 December 2013.

It has been superseded by the ICE-UDP-r6.

ICE-10G-VITA49

For the communication module ICE-10G-VITA49, the following has been announced: EOL as of 8 September 2015, EOA as of 31 December 2015, and EOS on 1 January 2018.

Processor Modules

ICE-V6M

For the processor module ICE-V6M, the following has been announced: EOL as of 31 December 2017, EOA as of 31 December 2018, and EOS as of 31 December 2019.

It has been superseded by the ICE-K8M, which must be used with the compatible ICE-PIC8 series of DSP cards.

ICE-S6M

For the processor module ICE-S6M, the following has been announced: EOL as of 31 December 2017, EOA as of 31 December 2018, and EOS as of 31 December 2019.

It has been superseded by the ICE-K8M, which must be used with the compatible ICE-PIC8 series of DSP cards.

ICE-V5M

For the processor module ICE-V5M, the following has been announced: EOL as of June 2015, EOA as of October 2015, and EOS as of October 2017.

It has been superseded by the ICE-V6M.

ICE-DTDM/X

As of 28 April 2011 ICE has discontinued the sale (EOA) of the ICE-DTDM and ICE-DTDMX. Software support (EOS) for these two items will continue through 2013. This is a result of critical component obsolescence.

ICE has announced the ICE-V6M processing module as a replacement.

Appliances

ICE-1U-PCIEEC (All Versions)

For the 1U PCIe Expansion Chassis ICE-1U-PCIEEC, Rev 1 and Rev 2 together with all associated configurations, EOL has been announced for 1 March 2017, EOA for 31 October 2017, and EOS for 31 December 2017.

It has been superseded by the ICE-COOLER PCIe Expansion Chassis.

SynchronICE (Gen1)

For the 1U TTL and Analog Distribution Chassis SynchronICE, EOL, EOA, and EOS has been announced for 24 May 2019.

It has been superseded by the SynchronICE-Gen2.

Accessories

ICE-CAB-HD5

For the 40-pin high-density ribbon cable, the following has been announced: EOL as of 31 December 2017, EOA as of 31 December 2017, and EOS as of 1 January 2018.

ICE-CAB-MM5

For the 5ft coaxial male MMCX to male BNC cable, the following has been announced: EOL as of 31 December 2017, EOA as of 31 December 2017, and EOS as of 1 January 2018.
