Starts a new NeXtMidas session. This briefly starts the Java VM to initialize<br />
environment settings and to execute the optional %nmstartup macro in the<br />
user's home directory. This creates the NeXtMidas State File (NMSF) used <br />
throughout the session.<br />
<br />
Use of nmstart is technically optional. NeXtMidas can be run in "independent"<br />
mode without using nmstart or nmend (this is typically done when launching<br />
NeXtMidas from a script). Type "nm -H" at the OS command line for details.<br />

Note that some users alias nms to nmstart.<br />
